How to Remove a Password from a PDF
If you have a password-protected PDF you're allowed to open, you can save an unprotected copy so you don't have to type the password every time.
Steps
- Open the Unlock PDF tool and upload the protected PDF.
- Enter the PDF's current password.
- Download the unlocked copy.
You need to know the password
This tool does not crack, guess or bypass passwords. It only works when you already have the correct password. If you have forgotten it, ask the person or organization that sent you the file, or check where you saved it.
Want to add a password instead?
The Protect PDF tool does the opposite: it encrypts a PDF with AES-256 so it asks for a password to open. Keep the password somewhere safe, because it can't be recovered. A PDF that already has a password must be unlocked before a new one can be added.
