How to Convert a PDF Table to Excel
Copying a table out of a PDF by hand usually ruins the columns. A converter can pull the table out into real spreadsheet cells instead.
Convert in three steps
- Open the PDF to Excel tool and upload your PDF.
- Wait a few seconds while tables are detected.
- Download the .xlsx file and open it in Excel, Google Sheets or LibreOffice.
How it works
Each table the tool detects goes into its own worksheet, named after the page it came from. If a page has no detectable table, its text is added as rows so nothing is lost.
It works best on PDFs that contain real text, such as bank statements, invoices and reports exported from software. Check the numbers after converting β complex or borderless tables may need some tidying.
What about scanned PDFs?
A scanned PDF is only a picture, so there is no text to extract. Run it through the OCR tool first to make it searchable, then try the conversion; results depend on how clean the scan is.
